Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday urged party workers and leaders to extend all possible assistance to people who are affected by severe flooding in Assam."Lakhs of people are affected by severe flooding in Assam. I urge Congress workers and leaders to continue extending all possible assistance to the rescue and relief operations," he said in a tweet.Assam floods have affected more than seven lakh people across 29 districts leaving nine people dead."Till now, 7,17,046 people across 29 districts have been affected due to the flood situation in the state. Nine people have died in floods and landslides so far," Assam State Disaster Management Authority said on Thursday.Assam State Disaster Management Authority said that at present 1413 villages are underwater and Nagaon is the most affected district where 2.88 lakh people are reeling under the calamity. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will interact with students at the Cambridge University in London on May 23 and address them on 'India at 75'. The former Congress chief will also interact with the Indian diaspora and will speak on 'Ideas for India' at an event on Friday, May 20, the party said. "Sh. Rahul Gandhi will address and interact at Cambridge University on 'India at 75', the challenges and way ahead for a resilient-modern India. "Sh. Gandhi shall also speak on 'Ideas for India' Conference at London and interact with Indian diaspora on what the present and future holds," Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said on Twitter. Gandhi has had a series of interactions with students of many foreign universities in the past few months.
