Stock Market Live: Sensex up 400 pts, Nifty holds 17,700; TaMo rises 3%

Stock market live updates: Broader markets, too, rose in tandem as Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices surged up to 1 per cent

After rallying to higher levels in morning trade on Monday, the key benchmark indices pared some of the gains in noon deals amid profit-taking in select cement and metal stocks. 

 
The S&P BSE Sensex, which, rallied to a high of 60,498, was up 500 points at 60,300-odd levels. The NSE Nifty 50 was seen holding the 17,700 mark.

Broader markets, too, rose in tandem as Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices surged up to 1 per cent. Volatility index, India VIX, meanwhile, eased up to 2 per cent.

All sectors swimmed in the sea of green, with Nifty IT and Nifty Metal indices gaining the most - up to 1 per cent each.

Back home, shares of Bajaj Electricals surged over 3 per cent out after the company bagged Rs 565 crore worth of order from South Bihar Power Distribution Company.

Besides, shares of Kansai Nerolac Paints gained over 1 per cent after the company acquired 40 percent stake in Nerofix from Polygel.
