Sensational Mirabai Chanu snatches silver medal at Tokyo Olympics

Mirabai Chanu ended India's 21-year wait for a weightlifting medal at the Olympics by clinching a silver medal in the 49kg category to open the country's account here on Saturday. She lifted 87kg in her next attempt and raised the weight to 89kg, which was one 1kg more than her personal best of 88kg that she had lifted at the national championship last year. However, she was unable to better her personal best and settled f

Tokyo Olympic flame is the first powered by hydrogen

Inspired by the sun, the Tokyo Olympic cauldron is designed to be better for the planet. The flame at Tokyo's National Stadium and another cauldron burning along the waterfront near Tokyo Bay throughout the games will be sustained in part by hydrogen, the first time the fuel source will be used to power an Olympic fire. Organizers for the London Games in 2012 touted plans for a low-carbon torch but couldn't get the design right in time. They instead used a mix of propane and butane. ...
