Exploring possibility of exporting H'nessCB350 to global markets: HMSI

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is exploring the possibility of exporting its mid-sized premium bike H'ness CB350 to various markets across the globe even as it works to cater to the robust demand for the model in the domestic market, a senior company official said. The company rolls out the bike with over 90 per cent localisation from its Manesar (Haryana) based manufacturing facility. HMSI had introduced the bike in October 2020 and has already crossed 10,000 sales mark in February this year in the domestic market. "Since this model is already meeting the European regulations, there are many countries where this model could be exported. So we are in discussion with our headquarters. Already the model is three months old in the domestic market and there is interest from other Honda companies across the globe," HMSI Director (Sales and Marketing) Yadvinder Singh Guleria told PTI in an interaction. Terming it "one model which is Made in India for the world", he noted that ..

Keeping track of cost structure amid rising commodity prices: Maruti Suzuki

Increasing commodity prices, specially those of rhodium and palladium, which are used in catalysers to meet strict emission norms, are putting cost pressure on automobile makers, according to a senior official of Maruti Suzuki India. The company, which had hiked prices of its vehicles in January, however is not planning to pass on the burden to consumers in the near future although it is keeping a close eye on its cost structure. With the supply of semiconductors becoming a challenge for the automotive industry, Maruti Suzuki is also watching the situation closely although it will have normal supply this month. "In commodities, prices have gone up dramatically this year, especially that of steel, and rhodium and palladium, which are used in catalysers of BS-VI vehicles. "Demand across the world has gone up but its mining happens only in Russia and South Africa. There, the mining was much lesser because of the pandemic," Maruti Suzuki India Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) ...

Honda Cars domestic sales rise over two-fold to 11,319 units in January

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Monday reported an over two-fold increase in domestic sales to 11,319 units in January as compared to the same month last year. The company had sold 5,299 units in the domestic market in January 2020, HCIL said in a statement. Exports for the period under review stood at 1,233 units as against 182 units in the year-ago period, it added. "The strong demand for our popular sedans Amaze and City in fact exceeded the supply last month and we seem to be heading towards sustainable market recovery except for a few challenges," HCIL Senior Vice-President and Director Marketing & Sales Rajesh Goel said. With the COVID-19 vaccination drive currently in progress, the automaker expects it to propel positivity in the market, resulting in a steady demand going forward, he added. The company has also started exports of its sedan City to new left hand drive markets which gave a fillip to the export volumes, Goel noted.
