Ex-Assam Cong chief Ripun Bora joins TMC, claims leaders working for BJP

Former Assam Congress president Ripun Bora severed his four-decade-old relationship with the party and joined the Trinamool Congress on Sunday, alleging that several leaders of the grand old party are working in connivance with the BJP in the North-eastern state. The incident occurred around a fortnight after alleged cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha election cost his seat in the Upper House of Parliament. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said it is natural for Bora to resign from the Congress after MLAs of his own party "worked for his defeat" in the Rajya Sabha election held on March 31. The senior leader who was a Congress member since his student days in 1976 joined the TMC in Kolkata in the presence of the party's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. "Delighted to welcome Shri@ripunbora, Former Minister of Panchayat & Rural Development, Minister of Education in Assam, former Rajya Sabha MP & former President of Assam Pradesh Congress committee! Gujarat: AAP sends disgruntled Hardik Patel an invite to join the party

Days after Gujarat Congress' working president Hardik Patel expressed displeasure with the party leadership, the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) state unit on Friday invited him to join it. Hardik Patel has come up as a leader on his own. He has expressed displeasure with the Congress leadership. We require leaders like Hardik in AAP Gujarat, the AAP's state unit leader Gopal Italia told reporters. Hardik should not waste his time putting his case before the Congress leadership as it would not yield any results, he added. Earlier this week, Hardik Patel, who first rose on Gujarat's political scene as leader of the Patidar quota agitation, had said he had been sidelined and harassed in the Congress, and local leaders wanted him to leave the party. Despite his representation to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi several times, no action was taken, he had said, while also adding that he was not planning to leave the party yet.
