Dense fog affects visibility in capital, 13 Delhi-bound trains delayed

With a blanket of dense fog engulfing the national capital on Thursday morning leading to poor visibility, several Delhi-bound trains were delayed, informed the Northern Railway.According to the Northern Railway, 13 Delhi-bound trains are running late following a drop in visibility due to fog."About 13 trains running late for today, including Howrah-New Delhi Express, Puri-New Delhi Express, Gorakhpur-New Delhi Express, Mumbai-New Delhi Express, Kanpur -New Delhi Express," said CPRO, Northern Railways.As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius at 7 am today while the maximum is expected to touch 18 degrees Celsius.Moreover, the visibility in the Palam area of the national capital dropped to 50 metres today."Dense fog is being reported at 0830 hrs IST over Delhi (Palam 50m), Punjab (Amritsar 50m), Haryana (Karnal and Hissar 50m each), UP (Lucknow 50m), northwest MP (Gwalior 50m) Bihar(Patna and Gaya 50m), Sub .

Nodal officers deployed in Delhi to monitor Covid patient care, vaccination

The Delhi government on Tuesday deployed senior nursing officers from public hospitals as nodal officers to monitor the management of Covid patients and vaccination at private facilities. Government hospitals have also been asked to find suitable replacement for retired and transferred nursing personnel. "The competent authority is pleased to deploy senior nursing officers as nodal officers in various private health care facilities from Delhi government hospitals to monitor management of Covid -19 patients along with monitoring of Covid vaccination," read an order issued by the health department. Delhi on Tuesday logged 11,684 fresh COVID-19 cases and 38 more deaths due to the viral disease, while the positivity rate declined to 22.47 per cent, according to a bulletin issued by the health department. Vikram Dev Dutt appointed Air India chief, Manish K Gupta new V-C of DDA

Senior bureaucrat Vikram Dev Dutt has been appointed as the Chairman & Managing Director of Air India Ltd as part of a senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre on Tuesday. Dutt, a 1993-batch IAS officer of AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre, is at present Principal Secretary (Tourism) in Delhi government. He has been appointed as the Air India chief in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, an order issued by the Personnel Ministry said. The Centre had in October last year accepted Tata Sons bid of Rs 18,000 crore to acquire 100 per cent of the debt-laden state-run carrier. The takeover has not been completed yet. Delhi L-G, police officials review measures to prevent crime against women

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Monday, during a review meeting with senior police officials, stressed on timely completion of investigation of cases related to crime against women and children. Baijal along with Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana, the additional chief secretary (home department) and other senior officers reviewed the status of measures taken to prevent crime against women. Taking to Twitter, the lieutenant governor (L-G) said,"Appreciated various measures taken by Delhi police to prevent crime against women including SAFE CITY project, Project ABHAYA and SASHAKTI program of imparting self-defence training & awareness initiatives like Nazuk and Nirbhik." Emphasis was laid on timely completion of investigation of cases pertaining to crime against women and children and enhancing the conviction rate to create exemplary and deterrent effect of law, Baijal tweeted.
