Centre to invest Rs 64,000 crore in health sector: Mankush Mandviya

: Union Minister Mankush Mandviya Friday Friday said about Rs 64,000 crore will be invested by the Centre in creating health infrastructure in the country over the next five years. Gujarat records 31 new coronavirus cases, zero death; active tally at 315

Gujarat registered 31 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the infection tally to 8,27,327, while no fresh death due to the disease was reported in the state, the Health Department said. A release by the department said the state's COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged at 10,092. The tally of recoveries rose to 8,16,920 after 32 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, the release said. The state now has 315 active cases of coronavirus, of which 6 patients are on ventilators. As many as 7.89 crore doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered to the eligible people so far in Gujarat, of which 5.16 lakh shots were given during the day, the department said. No new case of COVID-19 was registered in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu in the last 24 hours, said an official release. Over 1.11 bn vaccine doses administered in India so far: Health Ministry

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 111 crore on Friday, the Union Health Ministry said. Over 52 lakh vaccine doses were administered on Friday till 7 pm. The tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late in the night, it said. The vaccination exercise as a tool to protect the most vulnerable population groups in the country from COVID-19 continues to be regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level, the ministry underlined. The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2. The next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination commenced from March 1 for people over 60 years of age and those aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions.
