Two terrorists belonging to the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chowgam area of south Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday, Jammu & Kashmir police officials said.
Militants Wednesday shot dead a police officer and a civilian within minutes of each other in two separate incidents in Kashmir valley, officials said. While the police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was shot dead in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district, the civilian was gunned down in Nawakadal near Eidgah locality of the city, they said. "At about 6 pm, terrorists fired at & critically injured a civilian namely Rouf Ahmad near his residence in Nawakadal area of Srinagar," a police official said. He said the injured person was shifted to SMHS hospital here, where he succumbed to the injuries. In another incident shortly afterwards, militants fired at and injured police ASI Mohammad Ashraf outside Bijbehara hospital, the official said. The injured ASI was taken to the same hospital, from where he was referred to a medical facility in Srinagar, the official said. However, he said, Ashraf succumbed to the injuries, the official added. The areas have been cordoned off

An encounter has started between terrorists and security forces at Rajpora area in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, Jammu & Kashmir police officials said on Wednesday.
The Central government has released Rs 604 crore to Jammu and Kashmir under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), informed the Ministry of Jal Shakti on Tuesday."Central fund of Rs 2,747 crore has been allocated to the Union Territory in 2021-22 for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, which is nearly four times the allocation made during 2020-21," the ministry said.It further said that the Jammu and Kashmir plans to become 'Har Ghar Jal' Union Territory by August 2022."Out of 18.35 lakh, rural households in the UT, 10.39 lakh (57 per cent) households have tap water connections. The death toll in the terrorist attack on a police bus in Jammu and Kashmir rose to three on Tuesday after an injured constable succumbed to injuries, officials said. Constable Rameez Ahmad of the 9th Battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, succumbed to injuries at the Army's 92 Base hospital, the officials said. Little known outfit Kashmir Tigers, believed to be the front of Jaish-e-Mohammad, carried out the attack on the police bus at Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Monday. Assistant Sub Inspector Ghulam Hassan and Constable Shafeeq Ali were killed while 12 others including Rameez sustained injuries. The attack was carried out on the 20th anniversary of the attack on the Parliament building in the national capital by Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.
