Mobile internet to be restored in J&K's Srinagar, Budgam by 7 pm today

Mobile internet services that were snapped following the demise of former Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani will now be open in Srinagar and Budgam districts of Jammu and Kashmir by 7 pm on Tuesday.Kashmir Zone Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar confirmed the information and regretted the inconvenience caused to students in their studies.In a tweet, Kashmir Zone police wrote, "Mobile internet will be open in Srinagar & Budgam today by 7 pm. Internet services on mobile devices restored in 8 districts of Kashmir

The internet services on mobile devices were restored in eight of the 10 districts in the Kashmir valley on Monday, police said. Voice call and internet services, except the lease lines, were snapped late on Wednesday night, hours after death of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani at his Hyderpora residence. The mobile internet services were restored in all districts of the valley Monday except Srinagar and Budgam districts around 7 pm, a police official said. The suspension of these services in Srinagar and Budgam districts will be reviewed on Tuesday, police said. While voice call and internet services on broadband and fibre platforms were restored on Friday night, the internet services on mobile devices remained suspended till Monday. "Mobile internet will be open shortly today by 7 pm in all districts except Srinagar & Budgam. Will review about Srinagar & Budgam tomorrow afternoon," Inspector General of Police, Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar tweeted.

J-K govt sets target of administering one lakh Covid vaccine doses per day

Jammu and Kashmir government has set the target of administering one lakh Covid vaccine doses per day.The decision was taken during the weekly meetings chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to review the Covid scenario in J-K.During the meeting with deputy commissioners (DCs) and superintendents of police (SPs), the Lt Governor directed the joint team of police and civil administration to strictly enforce Covid protocol and take administrative actions against violators.Sinha asked the DCs and Health department to effectively utilize the existing available stock of vaccines to meet the set target. He also directed to maintain the buffer stock of vaccines in all the districts.Conduct aggressive vaccination and testing across the Union Territory (UT) with a dedicated focus on areas reporting an increase in positive cases, the Lt governor told the officials.District administration needs to ensure intensive testing in the vulnerable areas. RBI nod to Jammu & Kashmir govt to acquire over 16.76 cr shares in J&K Bank

The Reserve Bank has accorded approval to Jammu & Kashmir government to acquire over 16.76 crore shares in J&K Bank on preferential basis. "The RBI vide its letter dated September 2, 2021 has accorded approval to Government of Jammu & Kashmir to acquire 16,76,72,702 fully paid-up equity shares on preferential basis, i.e., up to 74.24 per cent of the post issue paid-up voting equity capital of the bank subject to compliance of regulatory requirements," J&K Bank said in a regulatory filing. In August, the lender had said that Sebi had exempted the Jammu & Kashmir government from complying with its norms on substantial acquisition of shares and takeovers in the proposed acquisition of 16,76,72,702 equity shares (6.06 per cent) of the bank during 2021-22. JD(U) demands restoration of statehood before holding Assembly polls in J&K

Janata Dal (United) National President Lalan Singh on Tuesday demanded restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before holding of Assembly elections in the Union Territory.
