Amit Shah reviews J&K security; takes stock of Amarnath Yatra preparations

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday held three back-to-back meetings with top officials of the security establishment to assess the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, including the recent killings of civilians as well as reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra for which the UT administration will provide RFID tags to every pilgrim. While Lt Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha was present in all the three meetings, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande attended the meetings to discuss the security situation in the UT. Senior officials from the centre, para-military forces and the UT administration were also in these meetings. Later in a statement, the Union Home Ministry said the J&K chief secretary informed the meeting that each pilgrim will be provided with a Radio Frequency Identification Card (RFID) and will be insured with Rs 5 lakh. J-K admin to form SIT to probe killing of Kashmiri Pandit in Budgam

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday announced formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit employee in Budgam district. It also said a government job will be provided to the wife of the slain employee. Rahul Bhat was shot at and critically injured by militants in his office at Chadoora in Budgam district on Thursday. He succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Srinagar. "A decision has been taken to constitute special investigative team to probe all the aspects of the despicable terror attack. The SHO of the concerned police station has also been attached," Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha tweeted. JK govt sacks Kashmir University professor, others for alleged terror links

A Kashmir University professor was among the three people sacked by the union territory administration on Friday for their alleged links with terror groups, officials said. Altaf Hussain Pandit, a chemistry professor, was terminated following a recommendation of a designated committee constituted under Article 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution that allows dismissal without an inquiry in the interest of the State's security. With these three fresh terminations, the total number of government employees sacked using the special provisions in Jammu and Kashmir has gone up to 37 since last year. Hussain Pandit was actively associated with the proscribed Jamaat-e-Islam (JeI). He had crossed over to Pakistan for terror training and remained an active terrorist of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front for three years before his arrest by the security forces, sometime in 1993. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said people of Jammu and Kashmir will have to unite to fight back the attack on their dignity and identity. J-K Bank irregularities case: CBI conducts raids in Mumbai, Delhi, Jammu

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted searches at eight locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Mumbai in a case related to irregularities in the purchase of office space of approximately 65,000 sq ft area by J-K Bank at Mumbai.A senior CBI official informed that multiple raids were conducted at the residences of Haseeb Drabu, then Chairman of J-K Bank, members of the Estates Committee of the board of directors of the Bank including AK Mehta, then Executive Director, and the then Directors Mohammed Ibrahim Shahdad and Vikrant Kuthiala.During the raids, incriminating documents, articles and electronic evidence, several bank account details and bank locker keys have been recovered.CBI had registered a case on November 11, 2021 on the allegations of irregularities in the purchase of the Akruti Gold building for Rs. 180 crores (approx) by J & K Bank for its integrated office in Mumbai in 2010.The said case was referred by J & K Government to CBI.CBI had .
