32 college students test positive for Covid-19 in Karnataka's Kolar

As many as 32 students have tested positive for COVID-19 in a college in Karnataka's Kolar KGF College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, said Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Wednesday."32 students are infected with COVID in a college in KGF nursing college. All of them are Kerala returnees. I will visit the college and take action against the college management," said the Minister.He further said that the COVID-19 has been brought under control to 700-800 cases per day from as high as 50,000 cases per day while adding that the government has worked hard to mitigate the pandemic.According to the state health department, Karnataka on Tuesday reported 1,217 new COVID19 cases, 1198 recoveries and 25 deaths in the last 24 hours.There are 18,386 active cases in the state as of now.

Karnataka coronavirus update: 1,229 new Covid-19 cases, 13 deaths

Karnataka reported 1,229 new COVID-19 cases, including 310 in Bengaluru, and 13 deaths on Saturday, the health department said. The day also saw 1,289 discharges, including 329 in Bengaluru. The positivity rate stood at 0.66 per cent, while the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) was 1.05 per cent. The State now has 18,897 active cases. As many as 1,83,642 samples were tested on Saturday, the bulletin said.

Karnataka CM urges Centre for 500,000 Covid vaccine doses daily from Sep

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai on Thursday met Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and requested him to supply 5 lakh doses of Covid vaccine daily to the state. In the meeting, Bommai updated the Union minister on measures taken to control spread of the pandemic. "I informed that the state has planned 5 lakh a day vaccination programme from next month. And the minister has assured support to meet the demand of the programme," Bommai told reporters after the meeting. Mandaviya informed that the Centre will give more doses of vaccines from September-October onwards to all states, including Karnataka, he said, adding that the state will start preparing for this programme immediately. Earlier, the Centre had provided 3.5 lakh doses of vaccine a day. Last week, it was increased to 4-4.5 lakh doses a day. "Yesterday, we touched 5 lakh doses a day. Medical student from Uttar Pradesh gang raped in Mysuru; CM orders probe

A medical student studying in a private college here was allegedly gang-raped by unidentified people on the outskirts of the city near Lalitadripura, police said on Wednesday. The student, riding pillion with her male friend, was on her way to Chamundi Hills when a few people waylaid them on Tuesday. The gang initially demanded money, but when they found nothing, attacked her friend and dragged her to a place where they committed the crime, police said. The victim has been admitted to a hospital. Based on her complaint, a case of gang-rape has been registered against unknown people, police added. The Mysuru police commissioner Dr Chandragupta visited the spot and formed multiple teams to probe the case.
