EV manufacturers welcome initiatives in revised Maharashtra policy

EV manufacturers body SMEV on Tuesday said the added subsidies from the Maharashtra government on batteries and overall vehicles in its new EV policy will aid to the growing interest among investors and companies looking to make an entry into the manufacturing of parts for the segment. The Maharashtra government policy grants us the privilege to reach out to our potential customer base in the state. With the amendment of FAME 2 by the central government and now the individual state policies like this one have only encouraged the adoption of electric vehicles in India, said Sohinder Gill, CEO Hero Electric & Director General, Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV). Maharashtra sees 8,418 new Covid-19 cases, 171 deaths, 10,548 recoveries

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 8,418 fresh coronavirus positive cases and 171 fatalities while 10,548 patients were discharged during the day, the state health department said. A day earlier, the state had reported 6,740 COVID-19 cases and 51fatalities, the lowest after March 15 this year. With the new additions, Maharashtra's caseload went up to 61,13,335 and the death toll to 1,23,531. The number of recoveries so far stands at 58,72,268, leaving the state with 1,14,297 active cases, the department said. Maharashtra's case recovery rate now sands at 96.06 per cent and the COVID-19 fatality rate is 2.01 per cent, it said, adding that the case positivity rate is 14.25 per cent. Mumbai reported 455 fresh COVID-19 cases and ten fatalities, taking the tally to 7,25,616 and the toll to 15,564, the department said.
