BJP announces alliance with Amarinder Singh for Punjab Assembly polls

The BJP Friday formally announced that it will contest the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab in alliance with Amarinder Singh's Punjab Lok Congress. Singh on Friday called on the BJP's Punjab incharge and Union minister Gajendra Shekhawat at his residence here. After the meeting, they officially announced the alliance between the two parties. "Today, I want to make it clear that the BJP and Amarinder Singh will contest assembly elections in Punjab together and we are working together," Shekhawat told the media, Singh by his side. Shekhawat said the details of seat-sharing will be announced at an "appropriate time". Singh said, "The alliance will definitely, 101 per cent win the elections. And winnability will be the main criterion in finalising seats." Singh formed his own party Punjab Lok Congress days after he resigned as the chief minister and quit the Congress. AAP releases second list of candidates for Punjab Assembly elections

Punjab unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday released the second list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.Earlier in November, AAP had announced a list of 10 candidates for the upcoming polls.The second list, announcing candidates for 30 constituencies of the state, enlists Raman Bahl who joined AAP after quitting Congress in November as the Gurdaspur candidate. Jagroop Singh Sekhwan has been given a ticket from Qadian. Punjabi singer Anmol Gagan Mann has been given a ticket from Kharar.Vibhuti Sharma will contest from Pathankot, Shamsher Singh from Dina Nagar (SC), Sherry Kalsi from Batala, Balbir Singh Pannu from Fatehpur Churian, Kunwar Vijay Pratap from Amritsar North, Inderbir Singh Nijjar from Amritsar South, Laljit Singh Bhullar from Patti, DCP Balkar Singh from Kartarpur (SC), Ravjot Singh from Sham Chaurasi (SC), Lalit Mohan 'Ballu' Pathak from Nawan Shahr.Others who featured in the list are Daljit Singh 'Bhola' Grewal from Ludhiana East, Kulwant .

Punjab assembly polls: AAP announces first list of 10 candidates

The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday announced its first list of 10 candidates for the 2022 Punjab assembly polls. All of the 10 candidates are sitting MLAs. Senior AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, has been given ticket from Dirba seat, while Aman Arora will contest from Sunam assembly constituency, according to the list shared by the party on its Twitter handle. Saravjit Kaur Manuke will contest from Jagraon seat and Baljinder Kaur from Talwandi Sabo. Jai Kishan Roudi has been given ticket from Garhshankar seat, Manjit Bilaspur from Nihal Singh Wala, Kultar Singh Sandhwan from Kotkapura, Budhram from Budhlada, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer from Barnala, and Kulwant Pandori from Mehal Kalan, according to the list. The election to the 117-member Punjab assembly is due early next year. The poll schedule is yet to be announced by the Election Commission.

Shiromani Akali Dal, BSP form alliance for 2022 Punjab Assembly elections

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) formed an alliance on Saturday for the 2022 Punjab Assembly election.
