Kejriwal to visit Punjab from Dec 30 to Jan 1 ahead of assembly polls

Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be on a three-day visit to poll-bound Punjab from December 30 to January 1, informed AAP.He will lead AAP's 'Victory March' in Chandigarh on December 30 to celebrate his party bagging the maximum number of seats in the civic polls.New entrant AAP put up a spectacular show in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation polls and won 14 of 35 wards while pushing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to second place.On December 31, Kejriwal will start his trip in Patiala by garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at 2 pm, he will then go to Shri Kali Devi temple to offer his prayers.After that, the AAP convenor will lead a "Shanti March" (Peace rally), which will be joined by the party's senior leader Bhagwant Mann.Kejriwal will then pay his obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Dukhvaran Sahib.On his final day of the visit, Kejriwal will visit Ram Tirath Temple in Amritsar at 12 noon.The Delhi Chief Minister has been making frequent ...

Aam Aadmi Party to take out Shanti March in Punjab's Patiala on Dec 31

Charged up after winning the Chandigarh local body polls, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will take out 'Shanti March' (peace rally) in Patiala on December 31.According to the party, Delhi CM and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal will lead the March and senior leader Bhagwant Mann will also be present in the rally.This comes days after several incidences of violence were reported, including the lynching of a man for attempting to desecrate Guru Granth Sahib at Golden Temple and a bomb blast in Ludhiana District court.

Punjab approves State General Category Commission for unreserved classes

Punjab Cabinet approved setting up of State General Category Commission for unreserved classes, informed Chief Minister Charanjit Channi on Thursday.This Commission will safeguard interests of the unreserved classes besides effective implementation of various welfare schemes, he added."The Cabinet approved to set up Punjab State General Category Commission for unreserved classes. BJP announces alliance with Amarinder Singh for Punjab Assembly polls

The BJP Friday formally announced that it will contest the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab in alliance with Amarinder Singh's Punjab Lok Congress. Singh on Friday called on the BJP's Punjab incharge and Union minister Gajendra Shekhawat at his residence here. After the meeting, they officially announced the alliance between the two parties. "Today, I want to make it clear that the BJP and Amarinder Singh will contest assembly elections in Punjab together and we are working together," Shekhawat told the media, Singh by his side.
