Rajasthan: Cairn Vedanta makes oil discovery in OALP block in Barmer dist

Vedanta group firm Cairn Oil & Gas on Monday announced an oil discovery in a Barmer district block of Rajasthan, not very far away from its prolific oilfield in the same desert. In a stock exchange filing, the firm said it has notified the government and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) of the discovery in exploratory well WM-Basal DD Fan-1 drilled in OALP Block RJ-ONHP-2017/1. The discovery has been named 'Durga'. The firm said the approval of the block oversight panel, called the Management Committee, has also been sought. The block is one of the 41 areas that the company had won in the first round of the open acreage licensing policy (OALP) bid round in October 2018. Cairn Oil & Gas, a unit of Mumbai-listed Vedanta Ltd, holds 100 per cent participating interest in the block. "Durga-1 (earlier WM-Basal DD Fan-1) is the second well drilled in the Block RJ-ONHP-2017/1 to a depth of 2615 meters," the firm said. This is the third hydrocarbon discovery notified by ...

Coronavirus pandemic: Rajasthan reports 3,728 new cases, 17 deaths

Rajasthan on Wednesday recorded 3,728 fresh COVID-19 cases and 17 more deaths due to the disease, according to health department data. Jaipur reported 860 fresh cases, followed by 351 in Jodhpur, 204 in Udaipur, 188 each in Alwar and Ganganagar, 187 in Kota and 118 in Rajsamand, the data showed. Of the latest deaths, four were reported from Jodhpur, three from Jaipur, two each from Ajmer and Bundi, and one each from Bhilwara, Dausa, Nagaur, Sikar, Sirohi and Tonk, it said. So far, 9,424 people have died due to COVID-19 in the state. As many as 7,177 more people recovered from COVID-19. Currently, 33,812 patients are undergoing treatment in the state, the data showed.

REET paper leak: Guilty won't be spared, says Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday said those involved in the REET paper leak case won't be spared and he accused the opposition of instigating the youth over the issue. The SOG is doing its work impartially that is why the accused are being caught and new revelations are being made every day, Gehlot said in a tweet. He alleged that the opposition is demanding a CBI inquiry into the case so that the state government could be defamed. It is not in the interest of the youth and the government will get all the culprits punished, no matter how influential they are, the CM said. Covid-19 pandemic: Over 3K fresh cases, 16 more deaths in Rajasthan

Rajasthan on Tuesday reported 3,479 fresh COVID-19 cases and 16 more deaths due to the viral disease, according to health department data. Jaipur reported 1,140 fresh cases, Jodhpur 300, Udaipur 221, Ganganagar 174, Alwar 120, Kota 119 and Bhilwara 112, the data showed. Of the latest deaths, four were reported from Jaipur; two each from Bikaner and Jodhpur; and one each from Ajmer, Alwar, Baran, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Sikar and Sirohi. So far, 9,407 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Rajasthan, the data stated. As many as 7,354 more people recovered from COVID-19 in the state. Currently, 37,278 patients are undergoing treatment for the disease, it said.

Rajasthan sees 12 new coronavirus deaths, 2,298 cases; active cases 40,880

Twelve more people succumbed to COVID-19 in Rajasthan, raising the death toll to 9,391, while 2,298 fresh infections were reported on Monday, official data showed. A total of 403 new cases were recorded in Jaipur, 239 in Jodhpur, 131 in Jhunjhunu, 123 in Alwar, 114 in Rajsamand, 105 in Bhilwara, 104 in Pali. According to the Health Department data, 7,299 more people recoveredfrom the infection, while the count of active COVID-19 cases stands at 40,880 in the state. Of the 12 new coronavirus-related fatalities, two each were in Jaipur-Jhalwad-Sikar and one each in Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Kota.

Covid-19: Rajasthan reports 4,509 cases, 7 deaths in last 24 hours

Rajasthan on Sunday reported 4,509 new Covid cases and seven more deaths, officials said. According to the health department, the new cases include 803 from Jaipur, 365 from Jodhpur, 278 from Udaipur, 245 from Alwar, 217 from Ganganagar, 214 from Ajmer. A total of 9,752 people have recovered from the infection while 45,893 patients are under treatment. Of the seven deaths, four were reported from Jaipur, and one each from Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, and Sikar. The state's death toll stands at 9,379, they said.
