Covid-19 pandemic: Rajasthan schools to begin opening from February 1

Schools will open for class 10-12 from February 1 in Rajasthan and for classes 6-9 from February 10, the government said on Friday in its new COVID guidelines. Students will continue to have the option of online education, it said. Markets, other business establishments in the state, will now be able to stay open till 10 pm, while Sunday's public discipline curfew has been abolished. Schools at all levels were shut down across Rajasthan in view of the COVID pandemic. According to the guidelines issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Abhay Kumar, students will be allowed to come to the campus for studies only after the written consent of the parents/guardian. Night curfew will continue to be in force from 11 pm to 5 am every day in the entire state, the revised guidelines stipulated. Covid: Complete thought given to school reopening, says Maha minister Tope

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said the decision to reopen schools for primary classes to XII from Monday was taken after complete thought was given to the issue. Schools were shut last month after a spike in COVID-19 cases across the state. Talking to reporters in Jalna on Sunday, Tope said opening of schools was necessary for the brain development of children and it was not right to keep them at home for long. The reopening of schools was a risk or middle path the state government decided upon to stop the spread of the virus as well as ensure children do not suffer. "We have given a lot of flexibility and also stressed that following COVID-19 norms is a must," the minister said. Covid-19: Schools in Tamil Nadu shut for 10-12 grades too till Jan 31

The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday declared holiday till January 31 for school students of standards 10-12 too in the wake of surging COVID cases. Examinations scheduled from January 19 for students of classes 10 and 12 have been postponed, the government said. While a holiday has already been declared for students of classes 1 to 9, physical classes are held in schools only for those in the 10-12 grades. However, considering the welfare of students against the background of rising virus cases, an official release here said "holiday is declared for students of all classes including those in grades 10, 11 and 12 till January 31." Fresh dates for the examinations would be announced later for classes 10 and 12, the release added. On January 5, announcing fresh curbs to tackle the virus spread, the government had barred physical classes for students of classes 1 to 9 in all schools across the state and had permitted it for only those in 10-12 standards. Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the Bihar government on Thursday announced that all schools, colleges, coaching centres, and hostels will remain closed till January 21."All schools, colleges, coaching centres, and hostels will remain closed till January 21," the Bihar government said.The government and private offices will function with a 50 per cent staff presence.Earlier on Tuesday, the Bihar government imposed a fresh curb by implementing a statewide night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am from January 6 to 21.As per an order by the state government, "Pre-school and 1 to 8 classes to remain close, online classes will continue. Educational institutions of classes 9-12 will function on 50 per cent capacity. Restrictions are to remain in effect from January 6 to 21."Meanwhile, Bihar reported 1659 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours on Wednesday. At present, Bihar has a total of 3697 active CCOVID cases, with a 97.84 per cent recovery rate.
