UPSC launches helpline for govt job aspirants from EWS, backward classes

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday launched a toll-free helpline to help government job aspirants from economically weaker sections and backward classes among others. The UPSC conducts civil services examination to select the country's bureaucrats, diplomats and police officers among others and also holds other tests to recruit government officers. "This initiative is also a part of the commission's endeavour of undertaking queries of such candidates in a friendly manner," the UPSC said in a statement. The helpline will remain operational on all working days during the office hours, it said. The initiative is part of celebrations under the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence. The commission has opened a helpline, toll free number 1800118711, with the objective to assist candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Perso

Delhi: 25-year-old UPSC aspirant die by suicide in Rajender Nagar

25-year-old Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirant died by suicide in Delhi's Rajender Nagar, informed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shweta Chauhan.The deceased was identified as Akanksha Mishra who was preparing for UPSC, she stated.Chauhan informed that the incident took place on Friday and the Police Control Room (PCR) call was received in Rajender Nagar police station at 11:50 pm about a suicide.According to the DCP, the deceased was found hanging from the ceiling fan the Prima facie informed.There were no other external injuries aside from the ligature marks on her neck and the door was locked from inside, it said.The inquest proceedings under S 174 Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been initiated accordingly.

Harvinder Singh, who on Friday became the first Indian to win a Paralympics medal in archery, is a man of many parts. Pursuing Ph.D. in economics, the 31-year-old, whose legs stopped functioning properly due to adverse effect from an injection during his childhood, loves history, is a painter and dreams of cracking the UPSC examination some day, according to his coach Gaurav Sharma.
