It was a bright, chilly, windy morning in the national capital on Friday with the minimum temperature recorded five notches below average at 10.4 degrees Celsius, the weather office said.

Rains, hailstorm lash parts of Delhi

Rains accompanied by hailstorm lashed several parts of the national capital on Thursday. According to experts at private weather forecasting agency Skymet, the change in weather was due to a cyclonic circulation over north-west Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana and Punjab. Rains were witnessed over the northern plains, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West UP and parts of Rajasthan. But now the cyclonic circulation has subsided and the sky is expected to clear up by Friday in Delhi, the experts said. "The minimum temperature will now decrease over the next 24-48 hours due to commencement of cold winds from hills," said Mahesh Palawat, the vice president (Meteorology and Climate Change) of Skymet. The day temperature Thursday settled at 24.6 degrees Celsius, five notches below the season's average. The minimum temperature was recorded at 11.8 degrees, four notches below the normal, said a MeT Department official. The humidity oscillated between 98 and 54 per cent. The city received 0.8 .

Widespread rain and thundershower on cards for Delhi NCR

The National Capital and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad are expected to witness widespread rain and thundershowers on March 14 and 15, said India Meteorological Department."Widespread rain/snow would occur over WHR and isolated to scattered rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan on March 14; and will decrease significantly on March 15 as Cyclonic Circulation has formed over Rajasthan and a trough is also extending up to Southwest Uttar Pradesh. The trough is now running South of Delhi," it saidOn Thursday, the minimum and maximum temperatures of Delhi are likely to be 14 Degree Celsius and 25 Degree Celsius. Dalhousie records sub-zero temperatures after fresh snowfall in Himachal

Popular tourist destination Dalhousie witnessed sub-zero temperatures on Thursday following fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, while other parts of the state saw light rain, the Meteorological (Met) Department said. The minimum temperature in Dalhousie of Chamba district was recorded at minus 0.1 degree Celsius as it received 5 cm snowfall from Wednesday 5.30 pm to Thursday 8.30 am, the Met centre in Shimla said. Tribal district Lahaul and Spiti's administrative centre Keylong and Kinnaur's Kalpa witnessed 15 cm and 6 cm snowfall respectively during the period, it added. Keylong continued to be the coldest place in the state, recording a low of minus 8 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Kalpa was minus 2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in both Manali and Kufri was recorded at 1 degree Celsius, while that in state capital Shimla was 5.5 degrees Celsius.

Delhiites woke up to a cool Thursday morning with the minimum temperature settling at 11.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average. The humidity level was recorded at 87 per cent. The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers in the later part of the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 25 degrees Celsius, the Meteorological Department said. On Wednesday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 15 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature settled at 25 degrees Celsius.

It was an overcast day in the national capital on Wednesday with the mercury settling at 25 degrees Celsius. "The minimum temperature was recorded at 15 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature settled at 25 degrees Celsius," a MeT official said. The humidity levels oscillated between 80 and 42 per cent. The meteorological department has forecast light rains during the night and a cloudy morning on Thursday. "The skies will be partly cloudy and there is a likelihood of light rains and thundershowers towards evening and night. The maximum temperature is likely to hover at 25 degrees," an official said. Met issues 'yellow' weather warning for Himachal

The meteorological department has issued a fresh 'yellow' weather warning for snowfall and rain in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, an official said Wednesday. The Shimla Met centre has forecast rain and snowfall in the hill-state till Friday. Snowfall, rain is likely to occur in mid hills and thunderstorm with lightning and hail very likely to occur in low hills, plains of the state on Thursday. The Met office issues colour-coded warnings to alert the public ahead of severe or hazardous weather which has the potential to cause "damage, widespread disruption and/or danger to life." Yellow is the least dangerous of the weather warnings. Meanwhile, the weather in the state remained mainly dry in the last 24 hours due to slight improvement in minimum temperatures, said Manmohan Singh, director, Meteorological Centre, Shimla. Himachal weather improves

Himachal Pradesh has witnessed slight improvement in minimum temperatures in most parts of the state on Wednesday, the meteorological department said. However, Keylong, the administrative centre of Lahaul and Spiti district continued to be the coldest place in the state at minus 7 degrees Celsius, said Manmohan Singh, director, Meteorological Centre, Shimla. The minimum temperature in Kalpa and Manali was 0.6 degrees Celsius each, Singh said. The minimum temperature in Kufri, Dalhousie, Chail and Shimla was 3.3, 5.2, 5.8 and 5.9 degrees Celsius respectively, he added.

Cold conditions prevail in higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh

Manali and Kufri recorded sub-zero temperatures on Tuesday following snowfall in the higher reaches of the state and light to moderate rainfall in other parts the previous day, the Meteorological Department (Met) said. At 30 cm, Kothi recorded the highest snowfall from 5.30 pm on Monday to 8.30 am on Tuesday, followed by 24 cm in Kalpa, 15 cm in Keylong, 10 cm in Khadrala, 9 cm in Manali, 6 cm in Pooh, 3 cm in Kufri and 2 cm in Dalhousie, the Met centre in Shimla said. However, a sunny morning brought relief to some parts of the state Tuesday, it added. The minimum temperature in Manali and Kalpa was recorded at minus 3.8 and minus 3.6 degrees Celsius respectively, it said. Keylong continued to be the coldest place in the state with a low of minus 8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Kufri was minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum temperature in Dalhousie and Shimla was 2.1 and 3.3 degrees Celsius respectively, the Met centre said. Sunny morning in Himachal; rough weather likely from Wednesday

A sunny morning came as a relief to people in Himachal Pradesh Tuesday, a day after the higher reaches of the state witnessed snowfall. At 30 cm, Kothi had recorded the highest snowfall on Monday, followed by 24 cm in Kalpa, 15 cm in Keylong, 10 cm in Khadrala, 9 cm in Manali and 6 cm snowfall in Pooh, the Meteorological (Met) Department said. Most parts of the state experienced light to medium rainfall throughout Monday, it said. The highest amount of rainfall was recorded in Chamba at 42 cm, followed by 35 cm in Banjar, 22 cm in Solan and 20 cm each in Shimla, Mashobra and Bharmaur, the department added. There was 19 cm of rain in Salooni and Kumarsain, 17 cm in Dharampur, 15 cm each in Bhuntar, Kasauli and Bijahi, 13 cm each in Pachhad and Rampur, 12 cm each in Sundernagar and ohru, 11 cm in Ghumarwin, 10 cm each in Jubberhatti and Palampur and 9 cm each in Dharamshala, Baldwara, Nadaun, Jogindernagar and Paonta Sahib, it said. Snow & rain bring temperature down in Himachal

Manali and Kufri shivered at sub-zero temperatures on Tuesday after fresh snowfall at several places and light to moderate rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, the meteorological department said. Manali in Kullu district, Kufri in Shimla district and Dalhousie in Chamba district received 9 cm, 3 cm and 2 cm of snowfall respectively. Delhi-NCR likely to get rain from March 13 to 15: IMD

Rains lashed most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Monday, with minimum temperatures hovering below the normal limits. The MeT Department has forecast light to moderate rains or thundershowers at a few places in Punjab and Haryana during the next 12 hours. It has issued a warning of thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorm and strong surface winds at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana on March 14. On Monday, the minimum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana hovered between one degrees celsius and minus three degrees Celsius. Chandigarh received 8 mm of rainfall, Ambala 6 mm, Patiala 4 mm, Karnal 4 mm, Amritsar 3 mm and Ludhiana 2 mm, the weather office said. Karnal recorded the coldest temperature in the region with the mercury settling at 10 degrees celsius, three notches below the normal. Amritsar registered a low of 10.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature at Ludhiana was 11 degrees Celsius.
