Mumbai on Tuesday reported 351 fresh COVID-19 cases, the lowest daily count after January 25, while 10 patients succumbed to the infection, the city civic body said. The city had reported 348 COVID-19 cases on January 25. With 351 cases, the cumulative caseload increased to 7,31,914, while 10 fresh deaths pushed the fatality count to 15,726, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement. The city also saw the discharge of 525 patients during the day, taking the recovery tally to 7,07,654, it said. There are now 6,161 active cases in Mumbai. As many as 22,015 coronavirus tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative figure to 78,11,748, the statement stated. While the COVID-19 recovery rate of Mumbai stood at 97 per cent, the overall growth rate of cases for the period July 13 to 19 was 0.06 per cent. The case doubling rate is now 1,063 days, the civic body said. Currently, there are seven active containment zones and 58 sealed buildings

With the addition of 418 new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Maharashtra's Thane district has gone up to 5,40,294, an official said on Sunday. Besides these new cases reported on Saturday, the virus also claimed the lives of 12 more people, pushing the death toll in the district to 10,904. The COVID-19 mortality rate in Thane is 2.01 per cent, he added. Details of recovered and under-treatment patients were not provided by the district administration.

One occupant was killed and another injured as a helicopter crashed on Friday evening in Jalgaon district of north Maharashtra, a police official said. The incident took place near Wardi village in the district's Chopda area, which is part of the Satpura mountain ranges, and information was received by authorities around 5:15 pm, he said. "One occupant was declared dead on arrival by hospital authorities while the second person has sustained injuries," he said. One of the occupants was a woman but it was not yet clear who was piloting the helicopter, he said.
