The weather department here on Sunday predicted light rain and thundershowers for the coming days as another western disturbance is about to hit the northwest plains, including Delhi-NCR on Monday.
It was a cold, misty morning in Delhi on Sunday with the minimum temperature recorded at 10.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, with 'poor' air quality.
It was a partly cloudy Sunday morning in the national capital, with the minimum temperature settling at 12 degrees, two notches below the season's average. "The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.30 AM at 12 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal while the chilly winds made the morning difficult for Delhiites," a MeT official said. The humidity level was recorded at 92 per cent. The weatherman has predicted a cold day ahead and shallow to moderate fog on Monday morning. "Skies will remain partly cloudy. The minimum temperature and maximum temperature are expected to settle around 11 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively," the official said. It was the coldest February 16 in Delhi in the past four years, with the mercury settling at 20.2 degree Celsius on Saturday.
After three days of widespread rain and snow, people in Himachal Pradesh woke up to a bright and sunny Sunday morning, but temperatures remained below the freezing point, an official said here.
The minimum temperature in most parts of Himachal Pradesh dropped by a few notches Saturday following fresh snowfall in popular tourist destinations Dalhousie, Kufri and Manali, the Meteorological Department (Met) said. Dalhousie in Chamba district, Kufri in Shimla district and Manali in Kullu district saw 24 cm, 7 cm and 3 cm snowfall respectively from 5.30 pm Friday to 8.30 am Saturday, the MeT centre in Shimla said. Tribal district Lahaul and Spiti's administrative centre Keylong and Kinnaur's Kalpa also received 9 cm and 7 cm snowfall respectively during the period. The minimum temperature in Manali, Kufri, Dalhousie and Shimla was recorded at minus 1.8, minus 1.5, 1.5 and 2.9 degrees Celsius during the period, it added. Keylong, however, continued to be the coldest place in the state, with a low of minus 12.8 degrees Celsius, the Met centre said, adding that the minimum temperature in Kinnaur was recorded at minus 5.6 degrees Celsius.
Tourist resorts of Kufri, Manali, Dalhousie and Kalpa in Himachal Pradesh received moderate snowfall turning them more picturesque on Saturday.
Weather in Jammu and Kashmir improved on Saturday and the Met said it will stay better for the next 48 hours till Monday.

The overall air quality in the national capital was in the "very poor" category on Thursday despite thunderstorm and rains in several parts of the city, authorities said. They said the air quality is expected improve on Friday. According to data provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the overall air quality index (AQI) of Delhi was at 335. An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and between 401 and 500 "severe". The upper reaches of Uttarakhand received fresh snowfall on Thursday while the lower areas were lashed by heavy rains, the meteorological department said. Areas located above 2,500 metres above the sea level in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts received fresh snowfall and the lower areas in most of the districts were hit by rains adding to chill all over the state, it said. After some sunny days, northern parts of the country is likely to witness rain and hailstorm in the next 24 hours, according to IMD. "A fresh western disturbance is approaching north India, in the next 24-48 hours. Moderate rainfall and hailstorm are expected in various parts," said Prabhjyot Kaur, Head of the Agro Meteorology Department.On Thursday, residents of Delhi woke up to light rain.
